Next, visit Telouat Kasbah, followed by the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This kasbah has appeared in movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Then, head to Ouarzazate, also called the “gate of the desert,” for dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel.
After breakfast, explore Ouarzazate, starting with the Atlas Studios, where famous movies were filmed, and visit the Taourirt Kasbah, a historic mud castle. Then, drive east to the Amridil Kasbah surrounded by Skoura’s palm groves. Continue to Kalaa Magouna, famous for its Rose Valley, where the annual Rose Festival takes place in May. Afterward, head to Dades Valley and make stops at the “Monkey Fingers” rock formation and a viewpoint overlooking the valley. Dinner and overnight stay in Boumalne Dades.
After breakfast, visit the stunning Todra Gorges, where the Todra River carved out a grand canyon with high red cliffs. Take your time to enjoy the scenery. Then, drive through Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves and stop for lunch. In the afternoon, reach the Merzouga Sahara Desert, where you’ll ride camels across the dunes. Stop to watch the sunset from a high dune before continuing to the luxury desert camp, where you’ll enjoy Berber drum music and dance around the campfire under the stars. Dinner and overnight in the camp.
Start your day early to watch the sunrise in the desert, then enjoy breakfast. Ride camels back to Merzouga, where the driver will be waiting. Spend the day exploring Merzouga and its amazing sights, including sand dunes, wild lake, mines, fossil areas, and oases.
First, visit an ancient eyeliner mine, then meet the nomads in their traditional tents and learn about their lifestyle over a cup of Berber tea. Next, head to Khamlia village to enjoy Gnaoua music and dancing. After a break for lunch, take a stroll through a palm grove and visit the wild lake (also known as flamingos lake). Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, leave the desert and visit Rissani, the old capital of Tafilalet, where you can explore the lively souks. Continue to Erfoud, famous for its fossilized marble workshops. Drive along the Ziz River, stopping to enjoy views of Ziz Valley. Enjoy lunch in Midelt. Then, visit the cedar forest, home to the Barbary macaques, where you can feed them. After that, head to Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco for its cool climate and alpine-style houses. Finally, arrive at your accommodation in Fez.
